Unfortunately no amount of antibiotics will get rid of your cold. Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them puts you and your family at risk of more severe or longer illness. To help keep antibiotics working you are urged to always take your doctor or nurse’s advice on antibiotics. The best way to get rid of your cold is plenty of fluids and rest.
The campaign that has been launched by the department of health calls on everyone in the UK to become Antibiotic Guardians by choosing one simple pledge about how they will make better use of these vital medicines.
Public Health England have also made a video describing antibiotic resistance and how its one of the biggest threats facing us today.
