A public consultation called ‘The Path to Excellence’ started in July and runs until the 14th October.
This consultation focuses particularly on areas of hospital care which are delivered at South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Some Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield patients attend services in Sunderland so we wanted to make sure that they have a chance to have their say about the service proposals.
Come along and join in the discussion event on 14th September 10am – 12 noon at Easington Social Welfare Centre.
We ask people to register in advance in order to ensure we have the right number of NHS staff to support discussions so all feedback is captured, recorded, reported on and to therefore influence the outcome of the consultation. For more information and to register for this event visit the Path to Excellence website events page.
We’ll be discussing:
Stroke services specifically hospital (acute) care and hospital-based rehabilitation services
- Maternity (obstetrics) covering hospital-based birthing facilities i.e where you give birth to your baby and special care baby unit
- Women’s healthcare (gynaecology) services covering inpatient surgery where you would need an overnight stay such as significant, major or complex surgery
- Children and young people’s healthcare (urgent and emergency paediatrics) services specifically urgent and emergency care
If you are unable to attend you can find out more information on the Path to Excellence website
