How to get involved

We are committed to involving local people in setting healthcare priorities and making decisions about healthcare services. There are a number of ways you can get involved and have your say:

Patient reference groups

Each locality also has a Patient Reference Group (PRG). Representatives from each Practice Patient Group attend monthly locality Patient Reference Group meetings to represent the views of their GP Practice and its surrounding community.

In this way Patient Reference Groups provide an opportunity for patient representatives to influence the design and delivery of health care services across Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield Clinical Commissioning Group (DDES CCG) as a whole. They provide an interface to enable patients, carers and members of the public to contribute to the identification of local healthcare priorities and the commissioning of local health services. PRGs also provide an accountability mechanism, linking DDES CCG practices and their local populations.

Public events

We organise a series of public events each year which are open to all.

Governing body

Our governing body meetings are open to the public. You are welcome to observe and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

Consultations

We regularly involve the public, patients, users and carers in decision making through involvement activity and consultations.

Healthwatch

Healthwatch provides a way for local people to communicate, challenge and shape the decisions of commissioners and service providers in health and social care, contact info@healthwatchcountydurham.co.uk.
